Everest Base Camp Trekking Route
Everest base camp trek dawns with a short scenic flight to Lukla from Kathmandu or Manthali airport. After getting off from the plane in Lukla, the trek leads to Phakding on the first day. You will pass some beautiful Sherpa towns like Chheplung, Ghat and Thadokoshi before reaching Phakding. After Phakding stays, the trek goes to Namche Bazaar on the second day. It is a beautiful Sherpa town along the Everest base camp trekking route. You will have one extra day in this place for the altitude practice. The acclimatization hike is from Namche Bazaar to the Everest view hotel. On the 4th day, the trek goes to Tengboche. It is a hill station which offers panoramic mountain views. After that, you will trek to Dingboche and have another altitude practice rest day here. You will trek to Lobuche n the 7th day of the Everest base camp trek. Day 8th is the biggest day because you are reaching the base camp. You will spend a night in Gorakshep after the base camp then climbs Kala Patthar and trek back to Lukla in three trekking days and fly out to Kathmandu.Everest Base Camp Trek Permit
When you pass Lukla town, you will see the office of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality office. You need to issue the Village entry ticket from here. The entry ticket costs 2000 NPR per person but, the internal trekkers can trek without this ticket. Everest base camp trek is in the Sagarmatha national ark. There is the national park ticket counter in Monjo on the second day of the base camp trek. You will issue the national park permit in Monjo. It costs 3000 NPR per person for the trekkers but Indian and people from the South Asian countries is a half price. Nepalese trekkers also need this trekking permit but, it only costs 100 NPR.Accommodation, Food and Drinks
There are plenty of lodges for the night stay in each stop on the trek. Some places have limited lodges like in Tengboche, Lobuche and Gorakshep. You need to book your space in advance in these places if you are on the trek during the high trekking season. You will have private accommodation in the guest house and attached bathroom in some places. There is a food menu in the place your you stay. You can choose various food items from the menu. The foods are almost the same from the beginning to the end of the trek. The taste could be a bit different in a different place, even for the same food items. The lodges sell mineral water everywhere but, the cost goes high as you ascend altitude. You can drink regular tap water filling into your bottle. If you drink the tap water, you need to use purification medication or sterilizer. Don't you have enough time for full Everest base camp trek?
