My old gran often quoted this 'Every picture tells a story' and I guess she was right. Our minds always think in pictures and if I was to say to you ' Hamburger' our minds do not see hamburgers spelt out in text, rather it probably paints a picture of going into Macdonalds and ordering a double cheeseburger with fries and likewise if I was to name your partner, in our minds we would have a picture of them.

Did you know that one minute of video is as effective as 15 million words? Video is an excellent and important asset for promoting your products online.

Can I recommend some ways of introducing and adding video to your marketing campaign with suggestions that you could include video with an email, a product launch, a newsletter or press release. You could even embed your video in a related blog. If you have created a how-to video, write a pargraph or two to explain what is covered in the video and post it.

Promote your blog or your website - if you've posted the video there - via Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin ,there is a 48 hour window when your video could possibly receive 'honours' and be featured on YouTube. Drive as much traffic as possible to your video within that time frame.

Make sure you allow your viewers to make comments on your blog and your YouTube channel. Do not be intimated by negative comments for if you have good content, you can always reply back in a constructive and positive way. Not allowing people to leave feedback might alarm them. Remember marketing is about interacting and exchanging ideas.

I cannot stress the importance of YouTube enough, it's an absolute must. It's the second most popular engine beating Yahoo and Bing. If you do not have a YouTube account go online and create one, then upload your video and add a descriptive title and url to your website or landing page at the beginning of the video description.

Tag the video with the relevant keywords and key phrases, remembering to write a few sentences that describe what your video is about. Now that's not hard, is it?

Do the same on Facebook, posting the video to your company's Facebook page and encourage those who 'like' your company to view and share the link.

You treat Linkedin a little differently. Linkedin doesn't allow direct video uploads yet, but can you easily share a YouTube video. Your followers will receive an update that you've shared content and will be prompted to watch your video.

Finally don't forget to tweet to your followers with the title of your video and a link to it.
