We have all heard the term sixth sense and are amazed at how it works. Extrasensory perception is also just another name for the sixth sense which gives us the ability to sense things without the help of the other five physical senses. This ability allows us to know about or get a hunch when things are wrong. This sixth sense is present in each one of us and can guide us in times of danger and also warn us if our loved ones are in danger or distress. Although most of us accept the existence of such sixth sense and we have heard or experience numerous examples of how this has helped people in times of distress, providing with an evidence for the existence of such extrasensory perception is a very difficult task. Although the general population accepts the existence of the sixth sense on faith and experience, the scientific community needs proof for everything and this has led to research on the subject. Many scientists and psychologist have conducted numerous experiments over large periods of time to prove the existence of ESP and also how it works. Dr. J. B. Rhine conducted a series of experiments using Zener cards to prove that ESP exists. These test help to measure the ESP of a person by the means of experiments with the cards. The cards consist of 5 sets of 5 symbols making a pack of 25 cards. The cards are properly shuffled by the tester and a card is drawn one at a time and the subject taking the test has to guess the face of card. The number of correct guesses is used to measure the ESP. These experiments have replicated by other scientists or psychologists to find the ESP of a person. Scientists have long accepted that we live in parallel worlds and parallel universe. This principle is explored by the scientist of the quantum physics during the study of sub atomic particles. The EPR paradox suggests that once two particles come near each other they affect each other and this continues even when the particles are moved away. While there is no accurate explanation as to why this happens, the existence of parallel worlds and their connection might give the answers. Just like we need signals to communicate with other people, the thoughts that we think send signals and are transmitted and received by passing via channels and dimensions that connect parallel universe. This is why ESP is often instantaneous and defies the rules of time and distance. Evidence of the existence of ESP is also given in other researches like the Ganzfeld experiment, the experimenter effect, the sheep – goat effect, the psi missing, the personality traits of the subject etc. Parapsychology is a branch that deals with the various manifestations of ESP like clairvoyance, telepathy, mediumship, prerecognition, retrorecognition, psychometry etc. and many psychologists have studies and documented their experiments to understand ESP better. In spite of all the evidence the critics can still find reasons to find faults with either the standard of the experiments or the person conducting them.
