Summary: Christ's warning suggests need for an “exit plan,” but not in a bunker with guns. Prompt action is called for—are we ready? Maybe we should begin to think about it.

Matt Drudge spent $1.9 million on a Camelback Mountain mansion in Phoenix. While this shows a conce
for security, perhaps we should consider something more like Joel Skousen's view, away from high population areas.

Some survival plans offer information that boggles the mind with complexity, but that doesn't need to be the focus for Christians.

The internet uses the acronym, TEOTWAWKI to mean “the end of the world as we know it,” and we recall the disciples asking Christ about that in Matthew 24 and Mark 13.

Christ's response is something most Christians overlook. He said, “when you see the ‘abomination of desolation...standing where it ought not...flee to the mountains.” Mark 13:14. Early believers understood His reference to the abomination as military, and when the Roman army came, they fled Jerusalem and were spared the siege by Titus who came later.

Because Christ blended the signs of Jerusalem's destruction with the end of the world, we should consider compliance now rather than wait for things to come down, as His words suggest--it might mean a difference in destiny.

Let's look at what His followers understood that spared them. When they saw military, “standing where it ought not,” they fled to rural or remote areas.

Do we see military standing where it ought not? How about the militarization of our police forces with armored vehicles and automatic weapons? Type “militarization” into Google and it fills in the rest and you can see articles like this with graphics: http://www.cnn.com/2014/12/01/politics/obama-police-militarization/

How many preachers in the cities are ignoring Christ's words? It's a shame that pastors may be more interested in keeping their congregations as a source of income than they are in giving Bible warnings.

On the other hand, if we see trouble and don't give a warning, their blood is on our hands, Ezekiel 33:6. This being so, it's time to refocus from distant space aliens and even illegal foreign aliens, to a place where we might go when martial law is declared.

Paul said, “Follow me as I follow Christ,” and on this point, I can say similarly. I'm living on a gravel road in an Arizona town that has no bank or police department, just one exit up the interstate from a grocery store and I already have green evidence of life in the garden. Using styrofoam window protection, we used no air conditioning last summer and only small plug-in radiators for part-time heat in the winter.

If I lived in the city, I would consider getting a loan against my house to get cash and if the economy crashes, use the cash for rent in a rural location. If you don't have relatives or friends whom you might visit, check with rural real estate agents.
