The Department of Neurology is expanding services at its Faulkner Hospital location to include additional treatment for patients with migraine headaches and a new electromyography (EMG) clinic for increased access to nerve conduction studies.

Additional Treatment for Migraine Headaches Elizabeth W. Loder, MD, Chief, Division of Headache and Pain, and Paul B. Rizzoli, MD, Clinical Director of the John R. Graham Headache Center at Faulkner Hospital, are providing expanded treatment options for patients with migraine headaches. Botox® is currently being offered as an effective option to alleviate migraine symptoms without side effects or risks of interactions with other medications.

Part of a wide range of treatment options at the Center, Botox® is well tolerated, and many patients are able to reduce or eliminate the need for headache medications following this therapy. While use of this treatment has been primarily among patients with difficult-to-manage and daily headaches, specialists at the Center are evaluating its benefits among other subsets of headache patients. Specialists in the John R. Graham Headache Center provide comprehensive evaluation and specialized care for patients with:

  • Migraine headaches;
  • Cluster headaches;
  • Daily headaches and unmanageable headaches;
  • General headache issues.

Expanded EMG Access Directed by Thomas Cochrane, MD, MBA, the new Electromyography Clinic at Faulkner Hospital provides in-depth evaluation and interpretation of EMG studies and collaborates with a comprehensive team of experts, including neuromuscular disease specialists, to provide advanced and innovative care for patients. The Clinic provides additional access to nerve conduction studies for patients with:

  • Peripheral neuropathy;
  • Focal neuropathy, including carpal tunnel syndrome;
  • Neuromuscular disease, including myasthenia gravis.
