Skin is prized asset and a vital protective organ of our body. Normal skin renews its cells every 28 days. This process slows down with age and leaves the complexion looking dull and lifeless. A healthy diet, adequate sleep, regular exercise and a comprehensive beauty regime are all essential to maintain a flawless skin. Normal skin has a flawless even tone with no blemishes, greasy patches or flaky areas. Depending on the skin type, an appropriate skin care regime is important to maintain the natural balance of the skin. Water – soluble creams and oil based cleansers and creams are ideal for oily and combination skins. Dry skin had a low level of sebum and can be prone to sensitivity. The change in temperature, air conditioning, etc. can cause the skin to flake, chap and feel tight. Such skin types require moisture rich products and night creams which have oil based ingredients. Avoid water soluble night creams and beauty products as exposing dry skin to water can aggravate the condition. Evening primrose oil extracts in a night cream would be beneficial as they contain gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an essential fatty acid reputed to strengthen skin cells and boost their moisture content. Getting sufficient sleep is important as it accelerates the skin’s cellular repair activity which is at its optimum during the night. A healthy diet and regular exercise is important for health in general and skin in particular. It boosts circulation and encourages blood flow. It helps in detoxifying and removal of excessive wastes from the body. Combined with a day care and night care regime, ideal diet and healthy lifestyle, your skin would be flawless and glowing irrespective of your age, bringing a new youthfulness and beauty to your personality.
