Are You Making These Facebook Marketing Mistakes?
Facebook marketing is really quite easy, but many marketers make a number of mistakes that can really kill their efforts. I want to talk to you about some of the most common mistakes people make, so you can avoid making them in your business.
The main thing to remember is to respect the general unwritten rules of the Facebook community. If you don’t, you risk getting banned, and you also risk alienating the very people you are trying to market to.
Don’t Spamr
Spamming Facebook is never a good idea. Never drop links on people’s walls, and don’t send links via private messages. Never post direct affiliate links. This will upset your friends, and it could lead to a ban.
Rather than dropping direct links, link to a page on your own website that offers some sort of value. For example, you could link to a blog post or article on your site. Then you could include an affiliate link within that post. This way, it seems as though you’re just offering real content to your Facebook friends.
Don’t Use Hard Sellingr
You definitely want to avoid attempting a hard sell on Facebook. The typical Facebook user is extremely averse to any kind of hard sell. The moment they smell marketing, they will usually remove you as a friend, or at the very least they will tune you out and never pay attention to anything else you say.
Don’t Be Faker
Many marketers attempt to build fake relationships with their Facebook friends in order to gain trust and respect. This can work, but it can also backfire horribly. If people sense that you’re just being friendly in order to market to them, it can be worse than not being friendly at all.
If you’re going to be sociable with your Facebook friends, be sure to be honest and genuine. Many people can spot a fake a mile away, so either be truly friendly or don’t bother at all.
