When you first start your job, you love every aspect of it. You are eager to learn, and every activity is exciting. But as time goes by, some of us start to resent our jobs. You might feel stuck, frustrated, or just plain bored. But job satisfaction doesn’t always require a career change. Here are some ways to fall back in love with your job and look forward going to work again. Speak Up! Most people leave a job before realizing what they could have done to be happier in that position. If you are unhappy in your current position, ask yourself why. Is it because it's been several years without a promotion or a pay increase? Do you feel that you deserve more recognition for your efforts? If you voice your concerns, together you can come up with a solution. Create a Brand New Office for Yourself Maybe you just need a change of pace. While relocating the company to an entirely new building is not going to happen, you can still update your surroundings and give yourself a fresh perspective. Whether you are in an office or cubicle, get some new pictures, and some new decor that reflects your personality. Looking at the same thing every day for eight or more hours can get boring, so choose what brings a smile to your face. Change Your Outlook Do you dread coming to work, and then stare at the clock for hours, counting the minutes until it’s time to leave? It could be that this is the problem! Before you walk into your workplace, put a smile on your face, and have a positive attitude. Engage in pleasant conversation with your co-workers in the hall and during breaks. Focus on the positive instead of the negative. After a meeting, instead of grumbling about the fact that your team was not given a bonus, rejoice in the fact that you were given an extra weeks' paid vacation. While things aren't going to go your way all the time, by focusing on the negative, you are bringing yourself down.
