Camping is an activity that I invested most of my forty plus years believing I experienced no interest in and absolutely no use for. And don't you just love it when circumstances prove which shatter long standing beliefs?
After the actual passing of my dear mother, it had been her wish which my family and that i did something that could enhance our camaraderie in her memory. For weeks, I struggled with how I was going to satisfy her wishes. Nothing seemed just right, and the few ideas I experienced just didn't appear "lasting" enough.
After that, one day I stopped into a local grocery store that I seldom use, but it was convenient at that time so I hurried in through the front door, with only my urgent food needs in mind. As I had been passing their notice board with local ads, business cards and the like, a flyer jumped out at me with the following words in big, bold lettering:
Family Camping is Precisely what You Need!
Nicely, I certainly didn't think my family "needed" camping, however for some reason which headline compelled me personally to take a closer inspection. Below the heading, there was a photo of a camper for sale and the flyer went on to say that the actual seller's wife had just passed aside and he no longer could maintain the actual motor home through himself and had been forced to market. He said the actual motor home would be perfect for a family looking to benefit from the togethe
ess that camping afforded, and that he and his wife had so many fond memories.
Jumping ahead about 6 weeks...
My husband and I found ourselves support our new journey trailer into the driveway excitedly the very first time, with no idea of the joy this box on wheels was about to create to our lives. We didn't wind up purchasing the camper shown on the actual flyer, but all of us did go look at it and got a significant camping education in the seller. And it had been that visit that put the notion into our heads that perhaps hiking would be a wonderful experience for us and our 2 daughters and the actual lasting memories would be a fitting tribute to my own mother as well.
The way you found and picked up our new toy is another story in and associated with itself, and I'll blog about it very soon. But for my purposes right here, I want in order to illustrate the value of staying available to any possibilities that cross your path, because you don't know when a new adventure is right around the corner.
Because we got our trailer late in the period, we only were able to squeeze in 3 camping trips prior to the winter weather set in. But oh exactly what trips they were! From the very first campground we drawn into, it grew to become abundantly clear that this was the best investment we experienced ever made.
I'd never relaxed on a vacation so a lot and enjoyed character and the outdoors to the extent that our new hobby permitted. And our children performed, explored and had experiences that will remain with them for life. My husband, well, let's just state he's already looking at our next trailer and he may gladly take any proud camper on the offer to "look inside," and show him close to their "perfect," design.
So, I may say this for you... If a headline jumps out and also you and says: Family Camping is Just What You Need! - Take 2 minutes to prevent and consider what it's all about, you may be very glad you did!
