Today more than 1.5 million people go the emergency rooms across America with chest pain, costing the healthcare system around 50 billion dollars every year. Heart disease is killing us more than any other single or group of causes. We have to get a handle on this vicious disease.
Many of us walk around everyday with heart disease and don't even know it. Signs and symptoms many times don't reveal themselves until it is too late.
There is a lot of prevention awareness and public awareness for breast cancer. I totally support all events to bring breast cancer awareness to the public. But the truth is that heart disease kills more women today than breast cancer. Unfortunately heart disease is not as well known as breast cancer and we need to get the word out.
Another crippling disease is diabetes. This disease wasn't as common as it is today. There are two types of diabetes.
Type I is when basically you are born with it or it becomes prevalent at a young age. Unfortunately there is not much we can do about preventing Type I diabetes.
Type II is the alarming type. Many years ago it was found in the older population mostly among people who abused themselves with alcohol and such. Not today the rate of diabetes is growing due to obesity, and the most alarming thing is it is now becoming more prevalent in children.
There are many risk factors that are not in our control. For example;nn- agenn- male or femalenn- race
But there is one risk factor that is in our control. Obesity is the number one risk factor and we have the control to change ourselves.
With proper diet and exercise you can reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes. Cutting out the fat that causes lipids streaks in your arteries is easier than you think. For example stay away from the white salad dressings or use low fat if you have to have the Ranch brand. Another weight gainer is soda. If you can cut the soda out of your diet you will lose weight.
Your exercise routine can be as little as walking three to four times a week. A consistent aerobic walk should be at least 30 minutes at a pace where you can feel it but you can still maintain a conversation with someone.
So eat right and get some exercise. Keep heart disease and diabetes away!

Moving Meditation: How Precision-Based Exercise Supports Mental and Emotional Growth
Movement is one of the most honest forms of self-connection. The body never lies. It holds stress, records emotion, and reveals when something feels off.
