Etihad Airways, the flag carrier of UAE, is based in Abu Dhabi, having its operations from the hub of Abu Dhabi International Airport, with a fleet size of 66 and operating 82 destinations, carrying a Company slogan ‘From Abu Dhabi to the World’. Etihad Airways started functioning only from 2003, but had bagged as much as 30 awards, besides acquiring 4 star rating from Skytrax, while the ‘World’s Leading Airline’ award given to it in 2009 at London and ‘World’s First Class Seat ‘ award conferred upon it in 2010 at Hamburg are two praiseworthy awards. Etihad Airways has entered into code share agreements with 31 International Airline companies, besides similar agreement with French Railways. Etihad Airways has classified its travel cabin classes with a novelty, calling its first class cabin as Diamond Zone, Business class as Pearl Zone, Economy class as Coral Zone and each zone having its own enviable privileges, including the passenger naming a special dish and the chef making it exclusively for one, while the taste and variety of dishes would hardly make a passenger look up for some thing different from what is normally served, likewise the inflight entertainment is reported superb in all Etihad Airways flights. Thai Airways International was formed in 1988 as the national flag carrier of Thailand, which is also the largest airline in Thailand and its primary hub is in Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport, and it is planning to launch a subsidiary Thai Smile which will be a regional carrier. Thai Airways operates with 91 aircrafts connecting 71 destinations of which 60 are international, flying smooth as silk, which is its company slogan, while the World Health Organisation has awarded a plague to Thai Airways for implementation of its in cabin management system in 2004 which focusses on hygiene as the primary objective of its cabin management. The inflight cabins of Thai Airways are classified into four categories, namely, Royal First Class, Royal Silk Class, Premium Economy Class and Economy Class, each having distinct features of facilities and cost of travel, while all the classes are attended by inflight crew with the same concern and care. Thai Airways operates a Frequent Flyer program called Royal Orchid Plus, which has a membership of two million people, who are classified in four categories of membership according to their frequency of travel and miles earned, while earning EQM, meaning Eligible Qualifying Miles, is possible in three different measurements depending on how the traveler travels, whether in Thai Airways flights or with the flights either of its code share partners or Star Alliance carriers.
