There are so many exciting new tools available on the Internet for businesses to do marketing with that it is no wonder that most businesses, even the smallest ones, are doing at least a portion of their business on the Internet. There are so many opportunities available that is only makes sense to use all of the tools available. After all, the more you get out there and promote your business, the more sales and profits you are going to have. In order to keep up with the competition these days, it is necessary for businesses to be online, and there are all kinds of strategies that you can learn that are going to help you along the way. These strategies will not only make the entire process a lot easier for you, but also will help increase your sales and profits. Here are some great tips from some of the best e-commerce websites; Stick to the basics: There are elements to every successful website that are common, and all of the top 10 converting websites use them. Eight out of the ten sites researched are all created for customers so they are user friendly, and they have a very easy sign-up form. It is important that your website is simple for people to navigate, and that all information is easy to find. Customers must register before making purchases: Four out of the five top converting websites make it so that their customers must register their details before they can buy anything. This will provide email addresses for marketing campaigns, either direct marketing or an email marketing campaign. This is a great way to get the data you need to start increasing the size of your customer base. This is not for every business, but it is something to keep in mind, as it seems to be working for the best websites on the Internet. Offer a toll-free number: There are still a lot of people who would prefer to actually speak to another human to do business rather than use a computer. They will often visit a website just to get information about the products or services offered, then they will look for other contact methods, especially a toll-free number so they can ask more questions or place orders. If you make it easy for customers to contact you, they will appreciate this, especially if it is at no cost to themselves. It is a small cost to set up a toll-free number, and the rewards will be great. Always cross-sell: You don't want to just stop at the sale you are making. The goal is to get more profits, and this means selling more. One way to do this is by cross-selling, which is really quite simple. A great way to cross-sell is by making sure that the entire way through the check-out process, you are offering deals on other products or services that will go along with what the customer is already purchasing. You'd be surprised at how many more sales you will get by doing this, and it is a trick that is used by all of the top 10 converting e-commerce websites. Make shipping costs clear at all times: People always want to know the bottom line, and when it comes to making purchases, what they want to know is the total cost, including shipping. It is really annoying to not be able to find out how much it is going to cost for shipping after the checkout process is almost completed. If shipping is too expensive, this could affect how much your customers are going to spend, and this is information you should be providing them so they will be able to know exactly what their purchases are going to cost before checking out. This is just one more thing you can do to ensure that your customers enjoy their experience with you, and will return again and again.
