So, you're at the doctor's office and they have been diagnosed with the potentially life-threatening high blood cholesterol levels. You had no idea it was that bad. In this regard, you do not really know that much about cholesterol.

Your doctor has recommended a diet change was needed, and should include foods that lower cholesterol. I am going to give you a heads here including a bit of background on cholesterol, and foods that help fight high cholesterol levels, particularly bad cholesterol.

Basically we need in our diet to reduce LDL and increase HDL our diet. There are certain foods that lower cholesterol, improved balance of LDL and HDL cholesterol. Although there are many good foods out there, below are the top eight foods (groups) that need to be considered.

Whole grains and oats - As a soluble fiber, this category of foods can help transport cholesterol from the blood stream. The foods are oatmeal, barley, brown rice and oatbran.

Fruit - It also includes soluble fiber. The best selection of fresh fruits, grapes, apples, oranges, plums, apricots, grapefruit, pears, blackberries and blueberries.

Fish and fish oil - It contains omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, which helps more "slippery" and less likely to clot blood. Your diet should include salmon, tuna, mackerel, shrimp and cod. Get a fish oil supplement.
I would recommend against eating their main fish entree.
Plant sterols or stanols - These are foods that are powerful substances naturally found in plants that have the ability to block the absorption of cholesterol. This includes margarine, yogurt, corn, wheatgerm, soya bean oil and orange juice.

Garlic - While shielding your body from disease benefits, recently there have been about how it can help reduce blood clotting properties of focus, thus reducing cholesterol. You can eat raw or cooked.
Certain nuts and seeds - like fish, some nuts and seeds contain omega-3 fatty acids. Vegetables - While some vegetables have already been involved in other areas of the above, it is necessary to stress a diet that includes plenty of fresh vegetables. The list is endless choices you have. Unlike its fat, most vegetables do not about how much you can eat limit.

Cinnamon and soy products - You've probably heard that both cinnamon and soy products are also good foods. There was no research done on how cinnamon and soy products help lower bad cholesterol levels and should be included in your healthy diet.
