FOODS THAT FIGHT INFLAMMATION
By JJ VIRGIN

As we sail into 2010, it's easy to focus on what everything looks like on the outside. Do these jeans fit? Can I get my waistline to look smaller? I want only one chin!
But it's also time to focus on what's going on inside your system. Latest news findings are focusing on a confusing topic about eating foods that also serve as anti-inflammatory. It's solid science to try to control any inflammation in your system because this is a great way to help you prevent arthritis, heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer's Disease and type 2 diabetes.
Foods with tons of anti-inflammatory agents have omega-3 fatty acids that then convert into a substances that reduce inflammation. The flipside is omega-6 polyunsaturated fats, in processed foods, corn and other oils, will up your inflammation factors. As you can see, the Standard American Diet (SAD) based on fast foods cooked in bad oils and bags of processed chemical ca-ca concoctions are hurting your body in ways you never imagined.
Here are a few tips to reduce your inflammation factor:
*Easy Ways to get your Omega 3's. I love adding a bit of flaxseed to all sort of foods including steel cut oatmeal, soup or even over a salad. Another great way to get more omega 3's is to toss some walnuts on your salad and always use dark greens like spinach and kale. Add some tomatoes and bell peppers which also fight inflammation and have long been said to help patients alleviate arthritis pain. *Broccoli is a way to reduce any inflammation in your eye. This veggie has double the vitami
C of an orange and just as much calcium as a glass of milk. Make sure you steam it to keep the nutrients in instead of boiling them out.
*Hemp Oil. This special oil is full of Omega 3's and also GLA's (gamma linoleic acid). These work to make sure you have healthy hair and skin while reducing inflammation. You can pour some on a salad or veggies.
*Other fruits and veggies that are bright in color are also said to be great inflammation fighters because they contain phytochemicals including quercetin in apples and onions and bromelain in pineapples.
*Focus on losing weight. Obesity is one of the highest contributors to inflammation in your body. If you want to do yourself a major favor this year then work on losing weight for your health. Your body will thank you! And stay tuned, we have some great things happening next month to help you drop the fat for good!
