Get More Relief by Boosting Your Natural Pain-Killersr
Many pain relievers have less effect over time. When you first use them, they may provide a very high level of relief. But with regular use, you find yourself taking more and more… just to get the same relief.
But what if a pain reliever gave you more relief the longer you took it? What if “felt better” after a week turned into “felt completely better” after 5 weeks?
Well that’s exactly what happened to some chronic pain sufferers in 1979 when they tried a “forgotten” pain reliever. Here’s the story…
Researchers at the Chicago Medical School recruited 43 volunteers. Most had persistent joint pain. Several had been suffering so badly, their doctors had given them narcotics.
All of the volunteers were switched to one or two plain aspirin – along with daily doses of the forgotten pain reliever. After a week, more than half said they were feeling better.
After 3 weeks, 60% reported feeling better – with more volunteers reporting greater relief each week.
After 5 weeks, almost 80% said they had less discomfort… with only 5 people reporting no improvement.1
Now, I’m sure you know that plain aspirin couldn’t beat the power of the heavy-duty pain relievers some of these people were getting. Yet their progress was remarkable. More of the volunteers just kept feeling better and better every week.
So what was this “forgotten” pain reliever? It’s a very common substance called phenylalanine.
Phenylalanine comes in 3 forms. L-Phenylalanine (LPA) is an essential amino acid. It’s a building block of protein that your body needs, but can’t make. But you can get it from foods like milk and beef.
D-Phenylalanine (DPA) is a mirror image of LPA. It’s the form of phenylalanine we can make in the lab.
Finally, there’s DLPA, which is a 50/50 mix of the other two. DLPA is the form you may find in your local health food store.
Your body uses phenylalanine to make several chemicals that trigger nerve communication (neurotransmitters) and several hormones. But they also appear to help “preserve” endorphins.
You may have heard of endorphins as the cause of the “runners high.”
Back in the 1970’s, runners discovered that covering long distances often created a feeling of euphoria. This feeling is caused by brain chemicals that enhance your mood… and dull the feeling of pain.
And phenylalanine appears to be remarkably effective…
• A 1990 Japanese study found it increased the ability of mice to tolerate pain.2
• Canadian researchers discovered it works for horses, too.3
• It even promotes greater effectiveness in other pain relievers4 and acupuncture.5
Research on this remarkable substance seems to have petered out in the late 1980’s – though a few studies have been done since then. But if you’re suffering with long-term pain, DLPA is certainly worth a look.
A few people shouldn’t use DLPA. This includes people who can’t process this amino acid – a rare condition – people with high blood pressure, and a few others.
If you’ve been suffering and want better long-term relief, talk to your doctor. DLPA may turn out to be exactly what you’ve been searching for.

Movement is one of the most honest forms of self-connection. The body never lies. It holds stress, records emotion, and reveals when something feels off. For many, this is why exercise has always been more than fitness; it’s therapy through motion. But not all movement heals. Some styles exhaust, others distract. True healing often begins in the slow, intentional kind, the kind that lets the body lead and the mind follow.rnThat’s where precision-based training, such as re
