National parks have been a part of United States tradition since the primary national park, Yellowstone, was established in 1872. While tourists may not have been rushing to the park in those days, Yellowstone National Park and various others have gained wonderful reputation as getaway destinations in the past years. Camping, hiking, biking and boating are all choice activities for nature enthusiasts and city dwellers. Our national parks are the best spots to take pleasure in all your outdoor passions. Of the thousands of national parks in the United States, here are four that everyone should visit in their lifetime:
1. Great Smoky Mountains National Park, North Carolina/Tennessee- This breathtaking park is the location of over 800 miles of hiking trails. Diversity is just something that makes this park worth a trip. Inside the park boundaries you can stop by fir tree forests and arborary forests; in one day you can have a look at national heritage sites and start off counting the various forms of salamanders living in the park. The greatest time to go to the park is most likely between late Spring all the way through the fall. In Spring the flowers start blossoming, in Summer the air is warm and fragrant with the smell of ripe flowers, and in the Fall the trees are colored with a blaze of orange, red, and yellow leaves. So nearly anytime is a excellent time to pay a visit to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
2. Olympic National Park, Washington- This national park is certainly one of nature’s most beautiful masterpieces. The park is a spectacular blend of high snow topped mountains, low flower filled meadows, wave beaten seashores and filled vibrant forests. Home to one of the only temperate rain forests in North America, the Olympic National Park is the most suitable location to go to for continual discovery and investigation. With incredible cliff side hikes and stunning walks through mature undisturbed rain forests, you are sure to see a lot of amazing sites. Whereas much of the park is open all year, the finest time to visit and keep away from the rain is during mid to late summer.
3. Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah- This park is purely a breathtaking alter from the tree inhabited forests and parks that most people are use to. While sporadic pine trees dot the landscape, the genuine magnificence of the park sits in the rock structures. While Bryce Canyon is not truly a canyon (it wasn’t eroded by water), it’s depths are still worthy of exploring and the dirt paths are easy to follow. Going on a hike through and around the canyon is like visiting a different planet. Bryce Canyon National Park is in a desert climate so the middle of summer is not the best time to see if you want to steer clear of the heat. Early to mid Spring and Fall are great times for a trip and may even make it possible for you to see some snow in the park.
4. Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Ohio- This large forested park is a good way for city inhabitants to avoid the noise and traffic of the city. The lush forest paths and the twisting Cuyahoga river give you the perfect location for family enjoyment. For Tolkien fans a trip to the Brandywine will be exciting, stunning and memorable. With 125 miles of trials, Cuyahoga is the ideal place to come for a hiking or biking trip. If time is limited, site visitors can take pleasure in a group trip of the park on the local scenic train. The park is open annually in most areas, so your time of visit will really depend upon what kind of weather you want; each season offers diverse beauties.
