There is a song by Britney Spears that talks about not being a woman or a girl, but being somewhere in between. This song has always resonated with me and while I am 38 years young, I am still learning to become the woman that I know that I want to be. Recently I had the opportunity to meet and talk to Catherine Behan (Cat) and she has an awesome website that will help you see where you are and what might be holding you back; you might want to meet the saboteurs. She even has a really cool test that you can take to see who your saboteur is. There is one for guys too, click here to meet the male saboteurs. After I filled out the saboteur survey I had the opportunity to speak with cat and in just an hour of talking with her I got an amazing chance to really connect with her and most importantly with myself. I have over my lifetime talked to so many different people about me and who I thought I was and this is the first time I felt like I was really connected with the "real me"! In just that small amount of time I feel like I have permission to be myself. I am so excited at the prospect of working with her more in the future! I found out that I am Scarlett and just like her I found out why I have never felt that I fit in. The Scarlett's of the world are not easily accepted. In the movie alone she was ostracized because she did not fit into the "norms" of her society. She really gets the opportunity to shine when she was no longer worried about others thought of her and has to take "the bull by the horns" and get things done. While talking to her I found out about a few of the celebrity "Scarlett's" like Oprah, Angelina Jolee (and I bet we could add Dolly Pardon into that elite group), and I realized that they are also looked on as being "out of the ordinary" and "strange" because of the way that they are. I have been afraid to be myself because I was not the norm. I have never been the standard, be a wife, mother and housekeeper type. I have always wanted more, but the women that I grew up around was anything but that. Funny isn't it that with as far as out society as a whole goes it is easy to say that women's lib has come so far, but I guess 1920, really wasn't that long ago. I have started yet another step in my jou ey and will keep you posted as I go and I expect some amazing things to show up along the way! Fabulously yours,
