MLA simply stands for Modern Languages Association of America. MLA style papers demonstrate the integration of any research with the rules and guidelines outlined in the MLA style handbook. These papers could be MLA research papers, term papers essays and so on. For students intending to acquire free MLA papers or write their own, a thorough understanding of the MLA papers rules and guidelines is necessary to facilitate proof reading. MLA papers in general must ensure the use of Times New Romans as the standard font and a type size of 12 pt this is because it is easy to read. All text must be justified with a 1 inch margin all around the paper. This requires that no indent is left for each first line of a paragraph instead one has to leave a space between paragraphs. Long lines of quotations must be must be set off from the left margin by 1 inch. rnAll work in the MLA paper must be double spaced. This includes quotations and works cited section. It also requires that a single space is left after any punctuation. One exceptional fact about MLA papers is that no title page is allowed. Instead include the author identification details and the date in the first page on the top corner on the left of this page. The author identification details should include ones names, name of the instructor, the course name and number on separate double spaced lines. MLA papers require that the title the paper in full follows the date centered and in the same font as the text while capitalizing the first letter of first word and all other principle words in the title. One limit for the MLA papers is that while including quotations they should never exceed a quarter of the paper. Where you intend to capture a point as put by the author one is allowed to use the words of the author as they are. In MLA papers, it is important to acknowledge the sources of direct quotations, any statistic used, borrowed ideas, other people’s opinions, illustrations, photographs or charts that belong to other people. It is also recommended that one acknowledges the source while paraphrasing or summarizing other people’s ideas and words. rnWhile writing texts, or ideas or opinions borrowed from other people it is important to acknowledge the source by any of these common citations: author and page number in parenthesis, or title and page number in parenthesis or the page number only in case there id is no author provided, or else use a rephrased quotation. In MLA papers, the author and page number citations require no use of the letter p to denote page or the comma after the author. While giving citations from articles, pamphlets or other sources where no author is provided, it is recommended to use the first word in the title followed by the page number. For MLA papers, the page number only citation applies where the author of a source had previously been mentioned to avoid repetitions. In the works cited section of MLA papers, the list is done alphabetically only for sources actually used. Page numbers must be consecutive for MLA papers and be set ½ an inch from the top on the top right corne.r
