Frozen shoulder is a health problem in which a person experiences restrictions in motions of the shoulder joint. This condition is also referred to as adhesive capsulitis. The cause of the problem remains unconfirmed. The problem seems to occur for no known reason. In most cases, the problem causes the shoulder joint to contract to the extent of forming a scar tissue. This is what leads to the frozen shoulder pain. As mentioned, the primary causes of the frozen shoulder are still unknown. However, there are certain conditions that have been associated with the pain. The problem can occur without any registered injury to the shoulder. However, it has been found that some people experiencing most problems have been involved at one time or another with traumatic injury to their shoulders. There are other aspects that contribute to the risk of the problem. Age and gender have been found to be the primary aspect that determines the occurrence of frozen should pain the most. The problem has been found to be more frequent in people of 40 to 60 years. The problem is has been found to be twice as common in women as in men. Endocrine disorders also contribute to the problem. Several systemic conditions such as heart disease and Parkinson’s can increase the risk of ending with frozen shoulder pain. So, what exactly happens? It is unclear why some people develop the frozen shoulder. In most cases, the shoulder tends to get stiff and scarred. The shoulder is made of a ball and socket joint. The two work concurrently to allow motion. In the occurrence of this health problem, the shoulder joint contracts. It is this contraction that adds to the friction that leads to scars in the surrounding tissues. It is the scarring and the contraction of the joint that leads to the frozen shoulder pain. The best way to handle this problem is to seek professional help. Most people tend to take matters into their own hands. At the end of the day, their efforts lead to more complications on the most active joint in the body. Seek medical assistance as soon as the problem presents itself.
