If you are looking into getting more out of Google Adwords, you should definitely look into "Ad Extensions". These ad extensions allow you to add additional information to your Google ads. With ad extensions enabled on your Adwords account, you will be able to add your company's location, phone number, additional links and product data. Ad extensions are apart of Google Adwords and they don't cost extra - you can continue to use the same CPC with ad extensions enabled. You might even be able to lower your CPC bid due to your ads being more noticeable - even at lower positions on the page. In order to add any of the available ad extensions, you must first enable the ad extensions tab on your Google Adwords account. To do this, click on any of your campaigns and look for the down facing arrow button. This button is located to the right of your existing tabs (example: the Ads and Keywords tab) and above your performance table. After you've added the ad extensions tab, click on the tab and choose from any of the existing extensions. My personal favorite extension is the "ad sitelinks" extension because it allows you to add additional links to your ad. I also see this as a universal extension that applies to just about any website. For instance, an article submission site, can use ad sitelinks to add links to today's most popular articles, top authors and popular article categories. Therefore, this is a great way for businesses to gain more traffic to targeted pages. The location extension may be the answer to further growing a business both on and offline. With this extension businesses can add their address and phone number to the ad. Ads that include local information will have this information displayed in the Google search network and in Google properties like Google maps, search etc. Phone extensions are great for businesses that offer phone support or for stores that take orders over the phone. This extension allow people with high-end mobile devices to click the ad and make a call to the advertiser. The answer to reducing advertising costs for online stores is most likely Product extensions. This is due to the image and price of your item being displayed in the ad. This is a great way to get ad clicks from people that are actually interested in your product. Product ad extensions will also save you money because they will most likely reduce clicks from people that are looking for a cheaper price or a product other than the one you are selling. Please note that product extension ads will only work with a Google merchant center account. A Google merchant center account is like a Google webmaster tools account for online stores. In the Google merchant center, merchants can upload data feeds of products from their stores. Google later displays the products from the data feed in Google shopping which is a free comparison shopping site. The Google merchant center also displays performance data, such as clicks and your products position in Google shopping.
