It is very resistant to warping and is generally thought to be one of the best woods for this application. Oak is another hardwood that is somewhat popular. It contains natural insect repelling ingredients and tends to change color over time. Another great option is Chinese Fir. Chinese Fir is extremely fast growing and requires minimal maintenance as furniture.
