When designing a garden there are many different approaches we can consider. We can use whatever works for us according to our need. For gardeners who have been gardening for some time and want a challenge, a formal garden is best. Formal gardens consist of a series of beds interspersed with walk ways. The beds do not have to be identical, but should be balanced and worked together. Colors opposite each other on the wheel are complementary because they work well together. By pairing plants with foliage and blooms of complementary colors, one can create some eye-catching combinations, such as smoke tree and Euphorbia.

Most blooms are fleeting. For long-lasting impact, select plants with colored foliage. Look at variegated plants in particular to provide the creams and yellows that match up with maroon and purple. By positioning plants according to their height, one can achieve spectacular effects with just a few plants. We should not be too obvious with our layers by staging plants in perfect rows. Work in odd-number groups and pull a plant or three slightly off center. Mixing up textures, one can get a little variety in colors, too.

For beds that will be viewed from two sides, placing the tallest plants in the center, step down on each side. For beds that will be viewed from all sides, place the tallest plants in the center and then step down and out in a rippling fashion. While the selection of plants available for late-season planting continues to grow, fall still relies heavily on decorating accessories to make a splash. The easygoing effect can last for month. Many inexpensive annual perennials can cheer up our garden. Garden designing can act as a focus point from wandering the eye in the garden.

Garden designing is the artwork that can place the eye in the particular nice plant. Control the scale of your garden by researching mature height and spread of plants before purchase rather than buying unruly plants that will need constant pruning. The most important think to consider while designing a garden is a proper foot print to the front door. Garden design help in placing the plants in proper place. Garden design help in avoiding the placement of plants with thorns and spines from the entrance.

Many ornamental grasses will benefit from a contrasting background. This is especially useful when backing grasses with wispy seed heads that would otherwise get lost at a distance. To save on our budget, create a private courtyard with carefully sited sections of walls, fences, and hedges rather than a solid perimeter. The area will seem less confining as well. Garden design help in placing fences, night lamps, benches and other garden accessories in the appropriate place. Without garden accessories the garden design is incomplete.
