That's right, Gardening in Western New York (WNY) just got a little more interesting with the arrival of Serene Gardens. The Western New York based Japanese themed Garden Center, Interior, and Landscape company Grand Island Serene Gardens (http://www.serene-gardens.com) is pleased to announce that it has recently unveiled their new website that represents their ongoing commitment to Japanese art, culture, nature and style. The website and online webstore comes just prior to their store front’s grand opening.

“Our team has had this unique combination of art, culture and nature in the works for awhile now,” said Serene Garden’s President Joshua M. Smith, PhD. who has lived in Japan for over 12 years and received his Master’s and PhD in Cultural Sociology at Osaka University. He made a living in Nara as a teacher and performer of the Shakuhachi, the Japanese bamboo flute, with currently 4 CDs released. He has made numerous appearances on national television and radio in Japan and the US.

He is also a Japanese garden designer, having maintained a temple garden in Nara, Japan and studied/apprenticed at Furukawa Teijuen, one of the largest landscaping companies in Kansai as well as still undergoes periodic intensive training at Fukui NiwaFuji Japanese Garden Company.

Vice President Matthew Smith commented that, “With my experience in local horticulture, landscaping and garden design, my brother Josh’s experience with Japanese gardening and culture, and his wife Satomi’s Japanese Flower Arranging and other traditional art experiences, we have formed an original team of individuals who bring unique and interesting things to the table.” Their website exemplifies their innovative ideas.

With many standard garden centers aging and not appealing to younger people, they have brought in many other ideas that will appeal to a larger audience. They hand pick and import various interior items such as Japanese pottery and incense, which are all available for sale on their website, and strive to help customers create their own serene environment.

Located on Grand Island, NY, Serene Gardens aims to become a destination garden center and place of serene experiences. Grand Island Serene Gardens LLC is a residential and commercial Japanese landscaping/garden design company serving the Buffalo, Niagara, and Western New York areas, but also travels and works with local nurseries to bring you a combination of tradition and modernity using local plants.
