Research that has been done on GEO Targeting indicates that the targeted results in mind are much more successful from the SEO point of view. The whole concept of GEO targeting for SEO is gaining popularity fast. After all, it allows online businesses to reach out and target marketers in a specific location.
Search engine optimization is a process that generates quality website traffic from the major search engines like Google. When people perform a search on such search engines as Google it is considered natural traffic when that searcher lands on a webpage that he is looking for.
If you are offering products and services to people that are at a specific location, then you would be much better off to try an optimize your website for people that are in that region. For example, if you where to offer photography services in New Hampshire then your marketing efforts should be directedtowards ranking high for keywords like “New Hampshire Photography Services” or Photography Services in New Hampshire” rather than trying to rank high for “photography services”. The benefit to this is also that it will be easier and far more cost effective for you. It will also bring you very targeted traffic to your website which will give your site and sales a large boost. So you can see how GEO targeting would offer you a great return on investment.
For websites that are targeting multiple GEO regions may have a few different version of a website. With each version targeting one particular language. Also, for the same version the page might be changed according to the location automatically.
It is very common to use a visitors IP address to identify the GEO region they are visiting from. Each design of each of the different versions of the website should be designed with the taste of the local user.
A good example would be that an English website would be better off displaying differently then it would for a Canadian or Australian or UK website. And this can be done since GEO targeting can identify the users keyword settings, language and his or her location. So why not take advantage of this?
Each search engine will serve up different search results depending on the end users or searchers query, and where they are located. If you where in a different country and you pulled up Google (for example) your search interface would look much different then the one you are used to. All the major search engines do this.
All the major search engine rank pages according to the kind of links each site is pointing its link to and from. If a website is getting most of its links from a site in Australia, then the site will rank better when an Australian user looks for information in the search engine browser.
