Having a good night sleep can go a long way to helping you feel good. It also plays a huge part in how healthy you will be. It has also been noted that those who get good quality sleep tend to keep that extra weight off.
There has been numerous studies that have shown that people who sleep less than seven hours a night tend to have a high body mass index (BMI) than those who have between seven and eight hours of sleep. The BMI is even higher for those who get less than six hours of sleep at night.
Some conclusions have been drawn from these studies. It's been explained that those who sleep less tend to be tired during the day and that affects the way they eat. When you energy levels are down due to lack of sleep you might mistake it to be lack of food or you might just want to boost your energy levels by having a snack or even a meal. This situation leads to overeating which causes more problems. But that is not all. Not sleeping well at night also affects your metabolism and we all know the role your metabolism plays in losing weight.
What is also very interesting is that most overweight individuals tend not to have quality sleep. This is usually due to snoring or because of a slow metabolism. This obviously creates a "vicious circle" that is difficult to break out of. In other words, lack of good quality sleep leads to weight gain and weight gain leads to lack of good quality sleep.
If you are really looking to lose weight then you will have to make sure you are having a good night sleep. You will have to make sure that you are not going to bed with too much on your mind. That will just disturb your sleep. A relaxed mind is all you need to have a good night sleep. If you are still having difficulties then you can always use some of the many natural remedies to help you get a good night sleep. You need it if your body is to function efficiently.
