When getting involved in particular activity, it’s a common human thing trying to become the best in whatever one is doing. It’s the same in the rider’s world. In order to become better rider, you’re constantly looking for new methods of improvement. I’ve checked some of the methods and techniques the good riders use and came up with the next list of tips: -The first thing you should do for becoming better horse rider is look for relevant books that have the basic information about the horses. The more you know about horses, the more you’ll be confident in the saddle. Reading can’t make you perfect rider if you are not actually riding, but knowing the basic information about the grooming or riding basics, can really educate you and prepare you for the real thing. -Studying the work of the other riders can help you to get the point of good and bad posture. It’s known that people are visual learners when trying to develop new skills. You will get amazed how much you can learn just by observing good riders. Take a note of the way they communicate with their horses and how the horse acts in response. This will give you a hand when you’re trying to learn some new lesson with your trainer. It’s much easier having the picture of a good jump before you do the real jump. The more you know what good riders are doing correctly, the more you’ll be in a position to perform like them. - When having lessons with your trainer, bear in mind to take notes of his recommendations. As you write them down on paper you’re increasing the possibility to remember it. It simply stays in your memory much longer. Therefore, it’s good to write down all directions that you get from the trainer, starting with the safety guidelines, to maintaining the shoulders back, the wrists straight, the head up, eyes forward and posting the correct body diagonal. It’s a lot easier when you are familiar with these tips and then apply them after the lessons. -Work on improving your stability. Stability is necessary in riding as it in every sport discipline. In horse riding you need the balance to prevent falling off the saddle. To reach good balance, try to work with the horse without reins and stirrups. Call a friend (or the trainer) that can give you a hand, as the horse should be held on a lunge. rnIt’s good to mention that you can work on improving the sense of balance even if you are not on a horse back, by discovering particular exercises made especially for this goal. -Get some more practice. Although you know all the rules and tips for riding, you’ve probably heard that “practice makes things perfect”, so get out and start practicing. Observing the other riders will get you ahead with the knowledge, but you must apply what you have learned and observed. You’ll get the real experience by practicing what you’ve learned. Maybe you’ll be able to perform in live all the tricks you make in the horse games. Don’t feel bad if you face with difficulties in the learning process. You really need to ride more often to be able to advance. Have in mind that those who are really good, spend a lot of time to get there. As long as you are focused all the way and show interest and love in what you are doing, the success will be there on your doorstep.
