However, going into a lifestyle change that involves eating healthily provides better results as you fight the inevitable aging process from inside. Its just a matter of choosing the ideal food that contain high levels of antioxidants that allow you to start rewinding the clock. To see which one contained the highest antioxidant content per serving, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) launched a research that sampled a hundred or more commonly consumed food products. Top scorers, with the most antioxidants, were composed of vegetables, fruits, legumes, and nuts. The tiny red beans, kidney beans and the pinto beans were among the legumes tested in the top list. Among the antioxidant-rich foods per serving, these foods were on the top five. Ranking second highest in the list, which typically consisted of blackberries, blueberries and cranberries, was the fruit category. Following not far behind were strawberries, apples (the Granny Smith and Red Delicious variety) and raspberries. The Russet potato got a place in the top 20 list and the top 10 list included the artichoke. All of them belong to the vegetable category. Also found to be rich in antioxidants were other vegetables like Brussels sprouts, spinach, kale, red beets, red cabbage, and peppers.
