While you are setting up a designed crown mold, you can easily line up at every corner apart from the point where the last molding piece meets the first place. In order avoid such situation, you can always start with the least noticeable corner and accordingly work your way out. In case of plain molding, as the ending point isn’t important, you can install anywhere where you feel comfortable.
When fixing the crown molding to the ceiling or wall, make sure you apply polyurethane adhesive right at the bottom and top of the molding, just where it would connect the wall and ceiling. At the time of joining the moldings together, do apply adhesives right between the molding’s moving sides. In fact applying adhesive will assure that the joints do not get separated though the house contracts and expands. If there is any kind of drips, do use a rag and mineral spirits to clean up. While crown molding installation, make sure you use the small finishing nails or may be a power-driven brad gun in order to protect the molding as the adhesive sets.
Whatever you do, make sure you do not compel the molding to match to the roughness of the wall. As we all know that no wall can be perfectly straight, so there is no need to force and highlight the conditions of the walls. Just allow the molding run naturally and use the painters caulk in order to seal any gaps or holes. If you follow the necessary points as mentioned above you will gradually learn how to install crown molding.
