Get the help you need at a Dallas Holistic Rehab Facility
Before a person agrees to enter a drug rehabilitation center, he may have to complete a detoxification program. The process is quite simple and straightforward. An addict cannot begin his journey of recovery if he still has drugs in his system. Detoxification clinics can help reduce the physical effects of withdrawal with prescription medications and time-tested treatments.
The fear factor
Most patients are more apprehensive about entering detox than they are about entering rehab. The reason for this is that there are many misconceptions about these facilities and the treatments they provide. Some believe that they are essentially prisons and that patients cannot even make contact with the outside world. This is incorrect. The fact is that most detox patients are free to come and go as they please. There are no bars on the windows or locks on the doors. Unless they were ordered there by a court, patients can enter and exit without penalty.
The purpose
In order to “get clean” and begin the process of recovery, an addict must be physically separated from his drug of choice. An in-patient detox program helps addicts get through the difficult process of withdrawal, which generally lasts for two to four days, depending on the drug.
What to expect
All addictive substances change the way your brain and body functions. Even a drug as ubiquitous and seemingly innocuous as caffeine will inevitably result in addition. If the drug is suddenly and unexpectedly removed, the addict will experience physical symptoms of withdraw. Once again, these symptoms vary based upon the addictiveness of the drugs they take.
Dallas detox centers
Getting clean is never easy, and detox is arguably the most unpleasant step. Your brain will beg for the drug it craves, and the doctors and nurses at Dallas detox centers must keep you from climbing the walls until the symptoms of physical withdraw diminish. This occurs because the body can and often does suffer shock when it is denies the drugs it has come to depend on for a protracted period of time. As a result, addicts must be slowly weaned off of these addictive substances under the watchful eyes of trained professionals.
The process
Most of the patients that enter Dallas detox centers are suffering from an addiction to alcohol, which is easily the most abused drug in the United States. The treatment plan for alcohol dependency typically involves prescription drugs that treat the symptoms of withdrawal without feeding the underlying addiction. These medically-supervised treatment programs reduce the risk of relapse and physical suffering.
It is important to note that Dallas detox centers do not remove the emotional or psychological factors that cause a person to abuse a particular substance. They simply eliminate the drug of choice and give a patient a fresh start. And although it is inarguably the most physically painful step of the recovery process, it is seldom the most arduous one. The real work begins when an addict has to explain why he is a drug user. If he can do this and he is able to identify his triggers, i.e., things that lead him to smoke, drink, inhale, or inject, he may have a good chance of staying clean.
