Windows 8 is the new buzz in the latest versions of Windows. It is packed with various features that claim to provide a better user experience as compared to the earlier versions. The users will get to know about its two distinct environments. The first environ is the Metro style start screen including tailored apps. The other is the older classic Windows which includes a varied collection of apps by Windows. In this article, let us find out more about the Windows 8 Developer Preview: Start up experience- A speedy start up is probably what everyone is looking for. It is capable of booting in 10 seconds flat, that too on any given new age PC or system. There is a brilliant display of Windows including date, time display and notifications. The user also has the advantage of PIN password or picture password for log in that can be utilized with multi-touch gestures. UI Experience- The UI performance is smooth and it is all about gliding softly through the tile instead of tapping. For example you swipe through and the Charm bar appears with its five distinct icons. These icons are: Start, Share, Search, devices and Settings. Additionally the start supports semantic zoom where the user can zoom in and out with just a touch of fingers. Tailored apps- The users get a full on screen experience of Metro-style tailored app. The user gets the advantage of auto-save function. But this is limited to light content saving and not anything as heavy as a word file. Another thing to notice is the feature of semantic zoom that can be utilized for reading purpose for providing more clarity. rnThe user is provided secondary tiles in addition to live tiles. So now it is possible to pin your favored list directly to the start. The user also has the freedom to choose the ratio of the onscreen size through a slider function. IE 10- As announced by Microsoft, Windows 8 comes packed with IE 10. The user gets the smooth tailored version of this explorer. Just by a mere swipe more features will be revealed including browsing bar with the ‘in private’ option and other controls. Contracts- Windows 8 is capable of providing the experience of intra-application communication services. This is useful for developers to be able to create applications with an underlying system. Thus the user will be easily able to seek solution regardless of any compatibility issues. So now it will be easier to share content and register to become a sharing target. Accessing PC- This can be easily done by using classic Windows while using tailored extensions for common functionality. For example the ‘File picker’ with which you can communicate with the files stored on the PC. The user also gets the freedom to choose a variety of files from different sources and act on them in a single batch operation. Devices- Windows 8 offers the user to communicate with peripherals through Devices charm. Now it is easy to access the play to, send and other options. With another version the user can even reach the properties of the devices within the start screen. Security- The Windows 8 has now added antivirus to their OS. This comes along with Windows Defender. Another security option is that of the Smart Screen filtering to the IE to provide protection against file attacks that come via the internet as well as storage devices. PC recovery- This is a tool provided in this new version. Now refresh and reset tools are available to the user. The refresh tool enables in resetting the entire PC which only takes a few minutes. This process is regardless of any external device or USB. The refresh tool backs up all your applications. All these above features and tools are provided in Windows 8 to give a better user experience and help in easing the computing experience.
