For many people, a chipper is a fantastic tool for getting rid of all the old and unnecessary trees, branches and even bushes from their properties. But what do you do with the wood chips that your chipper spits out? Whilst I’m sure there are plenty of uses for this by-product around your home, if you own an overly large property, have you ever considered using your chipper to get into quite a lucrative business?

• Flowerbed Coverr
Sell the wood chips that your chippers produces in bags that can be used to cover flowerbeds. By covering flowerbeds around the soil and right up to the roots and stems of plants will not only make their colours appear more vibrant, it will also create a natural barrier against frost, insect and other weather elements. These chipper by-products will also help to trap moisture around the roots of the plants, preventing them from drying out.
• Playgroundsr
Sell the wood chips that your chipper produces in larger quantities to cover the playground areas where children like to play. By spreading around 4 – 5 inches around the base of play equipment (such as slides and monkey bars) you can help to put a stop to many of the bumps and knocks that children are subjected to.
• Flowerpot Coverr
Sell the wood chips that your chipper produces in small bags that can be used to cover the soil in flowerpots and hanging baskets (much in the way these chipper by-products are used in flowerbeds). You can even dye the wood with a stain or environmentally friendly paint to increase their appeal.
• Mulch and Compostr
Mix the wood chips that your chipper produces with some mulch or compost and sell it on to avid gardeners. This actually works to improve the quality of mulch and compost, providing that you have soaked the chipper by-products for a few days (so that they become soft) before adding them in.
• Pathwaysr
If you have a chipper that is able to shred branches into tiny pieces, you may want to consider selling the wood chips that it produces to be used as outdoor pathways or even as the flooring of sheds. Many people see chipper by-products as being more cost effective than bricks or paving stones.

As you can see, there are a number of ways that you could use the wood chips your chipper produces to make some money. In this way, not only is your property left clear of unsightly trees, branches and bushes, but you can make a tidy little investment for yourself on the side (and even pay for your chipper in only a few short months or years).
