Angry Birds became a phenomenon almost overnight. With more than 100 million downloads already to its credit, there is no sign of the interest in this game waning at all. The game was first created by Rovio Mobile based in Finland and was meant for the iPhone and iPod touch users. The game is quite simple – a flock of angry red birds are launched into the air with finger movement and they crash into adversaries. The first of these adversaries were green pigs. This was a tribute to the swine flu that was epidemic back when the game was being developed.

Over time, a number of additions have been made to the Angry Birds online game. It now revolves around birds of different kinds, pigs, eggs that are stolen and a lot of physics. The storyline is rather self explanatory. A slingshot is used to launch the birds at a structure that holds pigs at different levels. The reason for this is because the green pigs have robbed the birds of their eggs. The entire game is played to win the eggs back. There is strategy involved as each of the birds being launched have to bring down the structure that protects the pigs. Depending on the level you are playing at, these structures are made of wood, ice and even hard stones. How hard the birds land on these levels is what determines its falling down.

A player will be given a star rating based on 4, on each of the shots played. If you are able to complete the round with launching too many or all of the birds then you are given a few bonus points as well. You will need to keep playing a level till you complete it in order to move to the next. There are no limits on the number of rounds you play. You can even replay a round if you are not happy, despite clearing it.

With time, a number of other birds joined the red ones. Each of them had a different ability with some being able to increase speed mid air, others with the ability to explode etc. However, the pigs too were given a back up and they now wear helmets in some rounds as it helps them stay protected longer.

There are numerous chapters in Angry Birds online that came about, with one being seasonal, the other oriental and the like. No matter the kind, the number of downloads for the game simply goes on.
