Carpenter bees control is a tricky business. These bees are eso named are named because they bore through wood and make their nests there. Although they do not sting, these bees (which are at their peak in the spring weather) are nonetheless a nuisance. They make a great deal of noise which can be a real disturbance to your family's backyard peace!

In terms of appearance, carpenter bees closely resemble the more common bumble bee, but without the yellow markings. They are particularly annoying to homeowners because their favorite places to settle are around homes, in places like under eaves, in fence posts and in other areas of a home's exterior into which they can burrow, set up a nest and lay their eggs.

So, the trouble is this: How does one get rid of carpenter bees? There are a few options for bee exterminators to get rid of these bees. The optin you choose will depend on the level of infestation, your comfort level with tackling the problem yourself. and whether you want to call in a professional.

Vacuum method

Vacuuming is one of the simplest and yet most effective pest control methods for ridding your property of carpenter bees. This method is best used when the nest is newly established, because they will likely contain a smaller number of bees than a more established nest might. That will make the extermination process easier.

Vacuum the nest in the evening, not during daylight hours. This is because the bees will not only have returned to their nest but will they will also be the most docile. This will make them easier to manage and less of a threat to your safety. During the evening the bees are less active and will be less likely to be agitated.

The actual process of vacuuming a bees' nest is easy. All you need is a household vacuum with a nozzle attachment. Simply lift the nozzle to the entrance of the nest and turn on the vacuum. Within a few seconds, the bees will be eliminated. Simply dispose of the bag in a garbage bag and tie it in a tight knot.

Using insecticides

Insecticides are another way of dealing with carpenter bees. Most commercially made products are very effective at dealing with bees, but caution needs to be taken to ensure your safety. Because these products are made with chemicals, they can be toxic. Wear protective clothing and a face mask before spraying a bee hive with insecticides and be sure that all children and pets are safely out of the area. The best time to use insecticides is in the spring, when the bees populations are just beginning to manifest.

Trapping method

Another method of dealing with an infestation of carpenter bees is by trapping them. To do this block the entrance of their burrow with caulking so that they cannot exit. Then, you can paint over the entrance to the burrow so that new galleries cannot be formed. This is one of the easiest and most effective way of dealing with an infestation of carpenter bees. Of course, if you don't want to deal with any of this yourself, you can always call in a pest control specialist to deal with the problem for you. They have the tools to effectively deal with the problem so that you don't have to.
