It's always a great idea to learn a second language. English and Spanish are almost equally spoken in the US. Consider this, how often do you hear English repeated in Spanish? This is just one of the reasons why learning Spanish is a good idea. However, learning a second language is hard for many people. If you have trouble learning languages, here are a few tips to help you out: Remember that you need to be patient. You won't be speaking Spanish fluently in several days. You could have all the rules of vocabulary and conjugations memorized yet still have some difficulty with the sentences. If you put too much pressure on yourself to be fluent too quickly you won't get anywhere. Just let your self take it slowly. This allows you to feel more relaxed with Spanish. It's also good to learn slowly is because people will have more patience with you if they know you're trying to learn their language. If you go too quickly you could make a mistake during a conversation and say something offensive. Teach yourself to think in Spanish. It may not be easy when you first try, but take any thoughts you can and turn them into Spanish. Don't expect to do this perfectly right away. Everyone has a certain amount of "mental chatter" in their heads; when you notice this, think how the words would translate into Spanish. This is an ability you will improve at the more you practice it. As you practice, you will notice that you can translate words faster. There will come a point when this will become automatic, and you'll think in Spanish without trying. The next stage is to take your internal thoughts and speak them out loud, so you learn how to converse in Spanish. It helps if you follow a plan. There are various methods, but all require a certain regular effort. That is because it is easier to learn a language in easy steps that make sense. Learning the alphabet and how to count as first steps makes more sense than trying to learn complex sentences. It also makes it simpler if you learn individual words before trying to put them together into phrases or sentences. Whatever course you decide to use, there is a reason why things are in the order they are; don't try to change this by going from one place to another. This will make your absorbing of the new language much less difficult. Skipping around will only slow you down and make it less clear. Why would you make things harder for yourself? Learning Spanish or any new language does not have to be so painful. Just try to stick with it, and use all the tricks you can find. Soon enough you'll be fluent.
