The world of Internet marketing is highly competitive. There are even merchants who will pay to obtain advice from business consultants and other professionals in order to ensure their success. However, there are other strategies that can be employed that are not as expensive as the aforementioned options. Building and growing an opt-in list of loyal customers is one way to ensure future success as an online marketer. An opt-in list allows merchants to regularly send promotional materials to customers, as the latter have given their permission to willingly receive such correspondence. Their permission, however, does not ensure that they will be interested in or read the e-mails sent by the merchant. It is important for the Internet marketer to remember that if the e-mail is deleted before it is read, it is of no value to the merchant. Rather, he or she will have simply wasted time creating a newsletter for nothing. Fortunately, it is possible to avoid this scenario by following these tips: Holding the Customer's Interest There are many ways a marketer can get the attention of his or her clients with promotional e-mails. Perhaps the most important of these is ensuring that the topic of the newsletter or advertisement is interesting and professionally written. Business owners have only a short amount of time to pique the interest of their customers or their emails will simply be regarded as spam. For this reason, the subject of the advertisement is of the utmost importance. Tracking which newsletters generated the most sales is also imperative, as this will help the merchant to continue creating similar pieces to those that have had good results in the past. The merchant should also pay attention to the types of correspondence that resulted in little or no interest from his or her base of customers. The Benefits of Using Highly Effective Phrases Almost everyone enjoys getting tips about something that they would like to know how to do, or know how to do better. Therefore, merchants who use keyword phrases such as “a simple guide to..” or “effective ways to...” have a good chance of holding their readers' attention for a longer length of time then if a standard title is used for the content. It is essential to remember that customers who opted in did so because they were interested in the topic on which the merchant's website is based. Therefore, it is safe to assume that the person will enjoy receiving tips and advice on that subject. With that said, however, these catch phrases should be kept as realistic as possible. Entitling an article “how to make $1 million overnight” is not likely to interest most customers as they will immediately disregard the information as spam. Ultimately, when a customer's curiosity is aroused, he or she will likely continue reading, which will in turn increase the merchant's chances of making a sale. Using these tips when managing one's e-mail list will virtually ensure his or her eventual success.
