As I was browsing facebook last night I came across a link to reusable toilet paper- as the latest outrage in the extremist green community is that we are flushing away our old growth forest- since toilet paper that is made from recycled fiber just doesn't do it for most people. It is amusing to me to watch the lengths that people will go to to fix our 'broken planet', and yet no real evidence exist that human beings are responsible for our warming planet.

Yes, our planet is certainly warming, and there are changes- but are human beings so egocentric that they think they are that in control?

Apparently yes. But it seems to me those who are worrying most about global warming are those who are sitting behind their tvs in major cities- many of which must have never left to survey the planet on their own. Because if they did, I would have a hard time believing they found anything that seriously wrong. Sure, you can find small areas with problems and exploit them- but nothing bigger than that.

Are we taking this whole global warming thing too far? I think so, and it is classic human behavior to attribute any change we want to make to some global catastrophe. Think the cold war, the killer bees, Y2K... all scams to make someone money. Is this global warming thing really any different?

The pattern I see is- a group of humans want to make a change. And it seems like the only way big things get done around here is by instilling fear to make the masses care. Create a problem, and then come to the rescue to fix it. Destroying our one and only home in the universe is quite the claim!

Now I am green with the best of them, I think it is a wonderful movement, I'm a naturalist, I love the environment, and I do not want to see the green movement stop. It is fascinating to me how we are coming up with new and better ways of producing energy. Let's keep doing that. But in the same regard, I think global warming is a form of extremism, and overall can be damaging to the green movement in the long run. If we are banking on evidence of global warming for this change, it could be like Bush claiming WMDs in Iraq. But if we can focus on the simple desires of people, it will last in the long run.

Long before there were fears put into peoples hearts about global warming- people wanted cleaner cities, they wanted to be able to swim in their local rivers and oceans without them being polluted. All totally understandable and natural desires. Then these desires were exploited to mean something much much worse... the end of life as we knew it!

I have been an American long enough to know that these fearful scams are brought up mainly to help someone profit. It's all about the money. And right now with foreign oil in control, it is obvious to me there are those who want to gain that power and control for themselves here in the states. So they start fairy tails, and the American people (and now it seems most of the world) believe them without much critical thinking.

There are two parts to this equation. The earth is displaying changes, and we are the ones causing it.

The earth is warming. Yes. Without a doubt. But is is possible that we have never recorded certain cycles in nature? Is it important that we study these cycles more critically without using it as a marketing ploy? YES! Something is going on, and we are turning a blind eye toward it, because we are so busy trying to figure out how we are doing it.

Human beings- usually- want to be in control. And nothing spells out 'we are in control' by trying to take responsibility for these global phenomenon. Green extremist will tell you changing your habits will save the planet, because of an ever pressing need to be in control. It's not healthy.

I hate to break the news here, but we aren't in control and never will be. The earth is a living breathing being, and we are nothing more than tiny fleas on her back.

Climb a mountain and look down at a city, and it will look like a speck of dust compared to the massive scale the earth provides.

We know at one point the dinosaurs roamed the earth, and we know something happened that caused them to go extinct. I am not suggesting that is happening again, but it could be something similar. Perhaps something as simple as the planet is realigning itself with the rest of the solar system, which causes weather changes.

Meanwhile, here are the egocentric control freak humans saying, "We're in control! Use paper not plastic!"

Why can't we as a people make changes to our lives, like going green- which will effect us and only us- without coming up with fear tactics to do so? Won't the reward of clean cities, water, and streets be enough for the change? That's all I ever wanted. Better, more abundant, and cleaner energy. No one likes getting a face full of exhaust while walking down the street.

The rest of nature is free to move away from our problem zones- we are the ones that confine ourselves to them and force ourselves to breath in the bad air. The beasts in nature know better. No need to worry about them- they are much more in tune with the earth than most humans are right now.

There is another piece I want to mention here, and that is you will always find exactly what you are looking for. Quantum mechanics is on to this lately, that there really is no 'reality' that is true for everyone. It is the observer that molds reality and finds what they are looking for. So if you are spending your days looking for evidence of global peril, you will find it. Actually, you will create it! You are the creator of your reality- but if by the same token you look for signs of well-being- you will see how crazy every one is acting- because that evidence is much more obvious and much easier to find.

How about this. Let's stop worrying about our planet, an let's take care of ourselves by going green. The green extremist who want you to change every aspect of your lives to please them are mainly just control freaks with feelings of unworthiness. Who wants to follow that energy anyway? They can't believe things are so well, and that we are so worthy to have life anyway they want it. They are just panicking because they are on the brink of realizing that they aren't in control at all. Believing something, and then watching the results manifest in their own lives- and then they try to make their self-created truth THE truth. I for one haven't seen such a misguided movement since fox news.

All I'm asking you to do is think. Think about it. Or better yet, do some soul searching, and feel about it.
