Joint pain is one of the most common problems today. There can be several causes of joint pain like illness, muscular stress and injury, etc. The deficiency of glucosamine in the body causes Arthritis, which is the inflammation, pain, and swelling of joints. What are joints and why they ache? The meeting point of two bones is commonly called a joint. Joints are significant because they provide mechanical support to our body. Our joints may ache due to several reasons and age is one of the primary causes of all. As we age, the strength of our body decreases. This happens because our body reduces the production of certain substances in the required amount, which causes various joint pain. What is the result of glucosamine deficiency in the body? The cartilage cells in the human body are responsible for the synthesis of the glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans. Glycosaminoglycans are carbohydrates and very important component of the connective tissues. Proteoglycans are heavily glycosylated glycoproteins, which are present in the connective tissues. In fact, Glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans are building blocks of the cartilage, the flexible connective tissues in the human body. Doctors usually prescribe the glucosamine supplements when the cartilage cells in the body work slowly. The glucosamine supplements are recommended because they stimulate cartilage cells to manufacture glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans. In addition to this, the anti-inflammatory quality of the glucosamine slows down the working of proteolytic enzymes. The use of glucosamine supplements reduces the chances of osteoarthritis, which is one of the most common types of Arthritis. The use of Glucosamine as a remedy of Arthritis In the early 1980's people started using the glucosamine as an Arthritis treatment. This method of treatment proved successful because many patients get relief from pain by using the glucosamine in a certain amount. Currently, the researchers are trying to answer the question whether glucosamine is capable of stopping the deterioration of the cartilage in the human body or not? In addition to this, researchers are also working on the question whether glucosamine can stimulate the growth of the cartilage in osteoarthritis or not? Although these questions are yet to be answered but one thing is well established that the side effects of the glucosamine are minimal as compared to the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). NSAIDs include many medicines like Aspirin, etc. So, if you are suffering from Arthritis or osteoarthritis, you do not have to take aspirin or any other NSAIDs. This is so because it can worsen your condition by causing many diseases like gastrointestinal irritation and blood thinning, etc. Put briefly, take a good care of your health by choosing the right method of curing.
