Assisted living facility can be a boon for lonely elderly people. Here, they can get help with their daily activities and be among people who share common thoughts and interests. But the facility does not come cheap by any standards. It can cost a whopping $2000 to $5000 per month. Sure, it is not everybody’s cup of tea to be able to afford that. This is where government assisted living comes into picture. Financial Aids Provided By Government The Government has some plans that provide financial aid to individuals to pay for assisted living. These government grants enable citizens to uphold their dignity and liberty while staying in ALFs or Assisted living facilities. • War veterans can get financial assistance for staying in assisted living care. The veteran’s Association helps the qualifying veterans with the cost of long duration care. • Individuals can also find relief in insurance policies that are especially meant for long term care. The federal and state government has collaboration in some long term care programs with private insurers to provide much needed financial relief to individuals. • The government also assists the cause of assisted living for old people by providing grants in the form of land or building and then inviting institutions or organizations to constructing ALFs. In this way, the rising need for such residential facilities is met. • The government provides large sums of financial grants to individuals who need to stay in assisted living community, but do not have enough financial resources. These grants are provided absolutely free of interest. • Medicaid offers relief in cases and medical expenses, but it can not provide financial help in regard with the expenses incurred on old home care. However, Medicaid will make part-payment for the cost of medical care on total assisted living charges. Promoting Congregate Care Homes The positive role of the government is also expected in producing assisted living facilities for low-income group. Such housing facility programs are an essential need of modern society. As more and more women have their own jobs and careers to look after, besides their family, it becomes nearly impossible to be available for an old parent who needs constant care and attention. Government Regulations Government assisted living is regulated by certain state laws. They have set a maximum limit of the amount of care that must be made available to the residents of the assisted living society. This limit is certified by the government and the facilities in some US states need to possess a certificate for the same. Thus, government assisted living strives to create a difference in society by providing a secure and independent abode for the seniors of the society, without putting unnecessary financial burden on them.
