Happiness is not living in a fool s promised land. It is not Living in oneself unaware of outside world. Life is not a layer of rosebushes. Here one has to sputter and combat for justice. All our activities are with a opinion to such outcomes. But ofttimes we neglect to attain that result. Sometime we get even various outcomes than our prospects. For illustration, when we do a huge turn to individual and instead of being pleasant to use the person accuses us. Failure in achieving our goal ofttimes results us to unhappiness.
What is the answer to it? Gita, the Hindu sacred and philosophical text, which is possibly the only religious book in the reality that was presented amidst battlefield, has a glorious resolution. It says,

You have right to activity only, never to its effects; never be attached to the answers of your actions; but don t take to inaction also. - Gita (2.47)

How pretty and unique!

In essence it teaches us that one should do one's responsibility without being unduly afraid about its outcomes. It does not mean that one should do whatsoever comes to one's fancy without regard to its consequences. In fact, responsibility means prescribed responsibility. Its issues cannot be undesirable. But the activity may result in achiever or failure. We should not be unduly conce
ed with this. The cause of all unhappiness is unfulfilled desires. This does not instruct us to be indifferent to the issues of our actions and do them indifferently. It teaches us to do our best. If then the outcomes are not as we had expected, we should have faith in God.

Mind you, all this advocating about disengagement from the effects of one s process is being taught at the battle field of Mahabharata when a great war is just to be fought. This war is between full cousin blood brothers, and near relatives are fighting on the opposing sides. Arjun has said that he did not want to fight a war in which he has to kill not only near relatives but elders and teachers. Krishna is trying to tell him that it is his tariff to fight. The reward is a remarkable land. Yet Krishna is talking of fighting a war at the cost of dying or killing one s near and dear, and yet doing so without Adhesion to its effects!

Yet, if you come to think of it, it is the best theory about Living. Adhesion brings uncertainty, worry, and tension. In fact, this non-Adhesion to the issues is very psychological too. Too much conce
about the effects of our actions affects the latter negatively.
