Grieving for a Dying Friend

The journey of grieving for a dying friend has begun for me. It all began early last month when I heard that my friend Debbie's cancer had returned. Another friend Chris and I went to see her soon after she had a series of tests done. We were startled by how weak Deb had gotten so suddenly. My intuition told me that our friend was dying.

My mind still has a tough time accepting this truth especially since it is happening so quickly. It is so hard to believe that I am grieving for a dying friend who is not yet 5o years old. One of 4 of us Seattle friends, she ate organic foods, had a positive attitude and created beautiful art.

This is not supposed to happen, my mind says, as this was to be our 11th year of the 4 of us "YoYos" getting together for a long weekend away. We spent time together to connect, laugh, cry, dance, eat, drink, play and do art on our special weekends once a year. We are soul sisters bonded in love. Now I am grieving for a dying friend who is a part of me, a part of us 4 YoYos.

Releasing the Pain

Releasing the pain of grief has been hard for me. Lord knows I have had ample opportunities to practice grieving since I have had so many losses in my life. Used to playing the role of the strong one is one of the obstacles I have to allowing myself to break down and cry.

Usually I am the first one to encourage releasing the pain for others in their process. How ironic that it is a challenge for me to cry. This morning, however, the floodgates of pain were released in me perhaps because my daughter was at work and my husband was out of town. There was no one to be strong for except me.

After releasing the pain through deep waves of "the ugly cry," as I like to call it, I feel lighter, freer and more relaxed. It takes so much energy to resist the natural impulse to cry. Surrendering to it and letting it go is like releasing the steam of a pressure cooker. Aaahhhhh!!!
Reiki Healing

Reiki Healing is the perfect soothing balm for a broken heart. When I place my two hands on my chest my heart drinks in the gentle waves of the universal life force energy of Reiki. My shoulders relax, my lower back releases and my soul is comforted from within. I am not alone as the great comforter Kwan Yin is present.

When I visit my dying friend I share Reiki Healing with her from head to toe on the front of her body. She makes sure that we have quiet time alone for she knows the sacredness of this healing energy medicine. Watching her drift into Reiki sleep pleases me as it relieves her pain and helps her in her transition to the other side.

Reiki Healing is a powerful yet subtle way to love my frail friend. Since I am powerless over her process of dying Reiki helps me to stay focused on witnessing her journey and supporting it naturally through the power of LOVE.

Little did I know that I would be using this image for an article about grieving for her. Almost 13 hours after publishing this article our dear friend Deb left her body to join the other angels. OM!!!!!!!!!

When a client sets up an Intuitive Reading session with me I suggest that they write down their questions before the session. The specific questions help the client to focus their intention on what they want guidance for in their life.

At the beginning of the Intuitive Reading with each individual, I go into a meditative state and ask Spirit to allow me to be a clear and pure channel of love, healing and guidance for the client.
