Know where (and to whom) Powerball tickets are sold. In 43 states, the District of Columbia and the US Virgin Islands, Powerball tickets are available from authorized lottery retailers, which means they are usually in the same places as most others. Lottery tickets: pharmacies, gas stations, and supermarkets. Anyone over 18 can play. You do not have to be a resident of the state where Powerball tickets are sold to play on ìí¸ë¦¬íìë³¼. Know when the draws are held. Official Powerball draws are held every Wednesday and Saturday night at 10:59 p.m. Eastern time. The limit for Powerball ticket sales is at least 59 minutes before each draw, although this may happen before. When you buy a Powerball ticket at the store, unless you pay for multiple draws, it only applies to the next draw. In other words, if your Powerball ticket does not win, it does not qualify to win in future draws unless you specifically pay for multiple draws. Understand how Powerball is played. Powerball is played by selecting six numbers that you think will come out in the next draw; 5 numbers between 1 and 59 and 1 number between 1 and 35. In the biweekly draws, 5 balls of a group of white balls numbered from 1 to 59 and a ball (called the "Powerball") of a group of numbered red balls come out from 1 to 35. Your maximum goal is to match each number exactly, which will make you win the pot. Meet the award-winning Powerball combinations. If the numbers you chose fit the numbers that were drawn in any of the nine combinations, you can collect your winnings. Note that the amounts of the prizes below represent base values; Power Play prizes are subject to a multiplier of 2, 3, 4 or 5 times randomly selected (except for the jackpot, which does not multiply, and the prizes for hitting five white balls, which only double ). Get a ticket. A single Powerball ticket costs $ 2. In all states except California, you also have the option to play "Power Play." The Power Play is an addition to the price of the ticket that increases your winnings for all prizes other than the jackpot in case you win. From January 2014, the prizes for the winning tickets with the additional Power Play are subject to a multiplier of 2, 3, 4 or 5 times selected randomly before each draw. For example, a $ 4 prize would become either $ 8, $ 12, $ 16 or $ 20 with the Power Play. This option costs an additional $ 1. Fill your ticket. Although Powerball tickets vary slightly from state to state, the basic method of filling a ticket is the same everywhere. On your ticket, you will have to specify the numbers you want to bet on, the number of draws you want and whether or not you want the Power Play option. Alternatively, ask the seller for a Quick Pick ticket. If you don't want to fill out an extensive Powerball ticket by hand or don't care which numbers to bet on, you can usually ask for a Quick Pick ticket instead of the normal Powerball ticket. Understand the odds of Powerball. Like any lottery, the odds of Powerball are very small. Many avid Powerball players consider the excitement of going against the odds to be part of the fun.Further reading
