When you plan to visit the home of Blues, an ancient Egyptian City then you must be aware of the diverse neighborhood. All are wildly different and takes pride in its own atmosphere, music, food and activities. Just walk across few blocks and you will find yourself in a new fun world.

Guide to navigate the neighborhood of Grind City

Memphis is also popular a 'Grind City', which is attributed to 'The Grizzlies'. The motto of this NBA team is to 'Grit and Grind', so the nickname. Make sure that you experience the colorful diversity in every neighborhood of Grind City.

Downtown

All the landmarks of this city are located here. The popular pyramid, which is currently a home for Bass Pro. Gain knowledge about Martin Luther King at National Civil Right Museum, enjoy live music on the Beale Street and walk across the bridge spanning Mississippi River. Downtown is home for Grizzlies and Redbirds. It also holds a galore of bars and restaurants.

Harbor Town

A sophisticated, upscale neighborhood situated near Mississippi River. You get great dining options, which offer awesome city views. You can watch sunset from River Inn terrace. Buy sandwiches, salads and sweets from the Cordelia's Market to picnic along Mississippi River. Get those feet biking or walking along the trails lined across Harbor Town.

Cooper-Young

Hotspot for young artists and there are the trendiest restaurants, shops, bars, and cultural institutions. Musicians record their song at Young Avenue Sound. Local crafts can be bought at Cooper Young Gallery. You can find a brewery and an old bookseller in Cooper Young. If you visit in September then you can participate in the Cooper Young festival.

Overton Square

In this neighborhood, there are 5 venues for live performances amongst which Playhouse on Square [theater] and the Lafayette's Music Room [live music] is very popular. For local style Cajun food visit Bayou Bar & Grill and even Local pub. Overton Park is a good place for family activities like visiting the zoo, hiking, and more.

Broad Avenue

A booming art district filled with restaurants and local shops. Best part in this neighborhood is a rotating restored water tower, where artists have created masterpieces. A light illuminates the colorful designs, at night.

East Memphis

Shelby Farms Park is vast including playgrounds, hiking, horseback riding, boating, and even has a buffalo herd. It is a family-friendly location. There is the botanic garden and Dixon gallery, where tourists enjoy outdoor sculptures and flowers.

Crosstown

Sears Distribution Center is spread across 12-acre land including 1,500,000 sq. feet building. There are restaurants ranging from popsicle bar to farm to table. There is a church, gym, health care center, and farmer market. Community celebrations and events are held here often.

German town

Germantown borders Grind City in the east. There are few treasures in German town worth exploring. There is a ritzy dining restaurant, an old-fashioned BBQ joint and high fashion shops. You will also find numerous hiking and biking trails along Wolfe River as well as get glimpse of animals ranging from deer to blue herons.
