This extension can be difficult to style and may not look as natural and real. You do not have to go to a salon specifically to have these extensions applied. You can often find them in drug stores and beauty supply stores. The two most common types of synthetic hair extensions are Toyokalon® and Kanekalon® fibers. The one that is most resistant to heat and can be styled using curling irons up to 230 degrees without melting is Kanekalon®. Toyokalon® may last longer, tangles less, but is less resistant to heat. Application Techniques How hair extensions are applied depend on your budget, the type of hair, your lifestyle, and the amount of hair extensions being added. You can clip them on, fusing, weaving, bonding, or micro and shrink links. Choosing the right stylist Most salon professionals who put in hair extensions are licensed cosmetologists who are trained in the various application techniques for applying hair extensions. Getting hair extensions can represent a substantial time and financial commitment. You will also have to visit the salon for maintenance on your hair extensions as your existing hair grows out. Make sure that you choose one that is licensed and has the experience and training to put in hair extensions.
