Hair fall is a serious beauty conce
for many women. The reasons that cause hair fall can be many. Finding the exact cause of is crucial in deciding the appropriate hair fall treatment. Some of the common problems that trigger excessive falling of hair that lead to thinning and baldness are heredity, stress, lack of nutrition, pregnancy and child birth, diseases, side effects of medicines, sudden weight loss, and menopause. Each of these reasons requires a different approach in treating the hair loss.
Hair fall during pregnancy, childbirth, and menopause is caused by the hormonal changes taking place within the body. The reason for hair loss at the time of pregnancy is mainly the lack of nutrients in your food. Since your body’s nutritional requirements are on an increased rate during this time, you need to consume more vitamins and minerals to maintain the health of your body and hair. Most women experience a heavy hair loss after childbirth. The reason is that during pregnancy, your hair is in a resting phase and stops growing.
The level of estrogen hormone is also very high when you are pregnant and that promotes the health of your hair. But, after the baby is born, the level of estrogen suddenly returns to a normal level and the hairs that were in the resting phase and those that had stopped growing start to fall. However, this does not need any particular hair fall treatment. Once the body returns to its normal condition, new hair will grow within six to twelve weeks. A nutritious diet also will also boost the growth of the new hair.
The decreasing level of estrogen causes excessive hair loss during menopause. The best hair fall treatment for women this time period is hormone replacement therapy (HRT) that will replenish the body with the essential female hormones that aid in hair growth and control hair fall. You should also keep away from stress and eat a healthy and balanced diet. A prescribed dose of vitamins and folic acid pills will also be useful.
Hair fall as a side effect of medicines taken for various illnesses and diseases is a common phenomenon. Some medicines and treatment methods for cancer, gout, high blood pressure, heart diseases, and other diseases will lead to excessive hair loss. Thyroid diseases may also cause hair fall. Hormonal imbalances and increased body heat are two major reasons for hair loss in these conditions.
In most of these cases no hair fall treatment is needed as the hair will grow after the treatment. The possible options to manage hair loss during this period can be a short hair cut, using a mild shampoo, brushing with a soft hair brush, using sun screen or hats, and avoiding any contact with chemicals or excessively hot dryers. As with all hair loss therapies, eating a well balanced diet is very important during the treatment period.
Older women have lower levels of female hormones and this can arrest the growth of new hair and cause the existing ones to fall. It is more difficult for new hair to grow with advanced age. However, you can adopt preventive hair fall treatments to avoid or reduce the amount of hair that falls.
