An expert FSO officer can easily control the dangerous situation to prevent disaster and damage. It is a most critical as well as responsible post. While transporting hazardous materials, an expert facility safety officer can provide necessary disaster management techniques to save the environment and lives of thousand of people.
If you want to become an FSO, you have to go through rigorous training sessions to shun off all your fears from your mind while handling with hazardous goods. This training will ensure you how to save human lives during crisis, or how to protect environment from the dangerous effects of the hazardous goods. After the completion of the training, a certificate is offered to the facility safety officer.
Initially, an FSO was sent in ships containing hazardous goods. However, nowadays strict rules are made that every vehicle carrying dangerous goods must have an expert facility safety officer in it. This rule is implied for roadways, waterways, railways or airways as well.
The officials managing the entire transportation system must have proper and effective IMDG, IATA or 40 CFR training. If the transported goods are safe or normal products then it may not have heavy impact upon the environment in case of accident. However, transporting hazardous goods have a high risk factor. These goods are also known as HAZMAT goods as these are dangerous.
The companies which offer delivery facility of dangerous materials must have proper IMDG training for international shipments. This is an effective training for officials handling with HAZMAT materials.
IMDG is the abbreviated form of International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code. It is an important training program for officials working for international marine shipments. This professional program gives all necessary information about IMDG packaging, marketing as well as labeling. It also makes the professionals aware of the tools that should be implied for the safety and security of the hazardous goods while transportation. Finally, after completing the course the officials and the staffs have to appear for a written test. After qualifying in the examination, certificates are offered to them. That certificate should be renewed on every third year from the date it is issued.
