Harness the Power of Your Thoughts
I had the opportunity last week to see Jack Canfield live and attend his A Day to Greatness seminar. For sure, you all know Jack Canfield, the co-creator of the Chicken Soup for the Soul. Have you read his book The Success Principles? The workshop covered a number of his success principles and I highly recommend his book. It is a great way to reflect, approach the end of the year and reenergize for the New Year.
Jack began his session with a great selection of really funny cartoons that he shared with the audience. He said laughing raises the energy and facilitates learning.
One of the key success principles Jack Canfield shared is:
Take 100% Responsibility for Your Life and Your Results.
He mentioned if you want a different outcome you have to change your responses. For example, giving up blaming others, complaining, makings excuses and so on.
There are only 3 responses you have any control over in your life:
1. Your behaviour (including what you say and how you say it)
2. Your thoughts (self-talk) and beliefs (conscious and subconscious)
3. Your visual imagery (including images of the future)
Like all transformational leaders, Jack reminded us of the power of our thoughts by saying, “You have to harness the power of your thoughts. Your thoughts (self-talk) control your physical reality more than you realize.”
Think about it. How often have you played your successes over and over again in your mind? Have you? I bet you, like most people, have been playing what did not go right today or what could go wrong tomorrow over and over again. Once we learn how to play the success movie in our mind and use imagery, we are on the road to success.
Jack spent quite some time explaining the importance of visualization / imagery and how to use it most effectively. I was excited to learn that all his teaching supports what we shared in the book Imagine a Healthy You <http://ulrikeberzau.com/healthcare/imagine/> and, of course, I took the opportunity to give Jack a signed copy of our book at his book signing. He graciously accepted my present and thanked me.
Another one of Jack Canfield's success principles is:
Be Clear Why You Are Here (Clarify Your Purpose).
Being clear is the first step to setting goals that are consistent with your life purpose and allow you to use your unique skills and talents. It was inspiring to see how he incorporates the Passion Test <http://ulrikeberzau.com/the-passion-test/> teachings. In a previous newsletter, I wrote about the Jack Canfield story <http://ulrikeberzau.com/passion-test/jack-canfield-story/> and how Jack got introduced to the Passion Test.
Are you using Jack's success principles? I invite you to please share your experience and how they've shaped your success on my Facebook page <https://www.facebook.com/AmazingResults4You/>.
