Have you ever been socially engineered?

Hacking means ‘a try’ and ‘an attempt’ to do something that can have effects on other people. But these days hacking is taking a different turn, it is being changed into social engineering.
Social engineering is a term usually means ‘the art of human hacking’, by using the social engineering techniques a person can use the other person as a bridge to get the information about the company.
But if we go a little deeper, social engineering is not just employed to get information about the company but social engineering scams can be about many other things.
For example a fresh story from china that states, naked ladies scam male individuals by sex chatting. I read it on CNN, and it was a little surprising to note the procedure those naked ladies, or should I say a gang of malicious scammers use is, they first persuade the males into cyber sex by lovely talking, and then undress themselves first (to get a reliable impression). Then they ask the males to follow, and when males start their sexual acts they disappear from the screen and the chat session is closed.
After some time, the same ‘male’ gets a message and a phone call demanding 50,000$ and if he did not pay then his videos of cyber sex will be posted all over the internet.
Obviously this, according to my own point of view is not that much of a concerned situation, because of two points. One is that the ‘girl’, herself first got naked, and her video must also be recorded in the victim’s computer and secondly, the situation would have been more critical if the victim was a female.
But coming back to the topic, this is a simple example of social engineering. There are many more examples where 15billion dollar or data was lost by a company due to ‘sweet talking’.
Now I will talk about how we can avoid these social engineering techniques?
First of all, I would like to tell everyone that there are no clear and defined ways to do that, because a person cannot know who will deceive him. But he can still try not to become too frank with anyone by simply changing his attitude towards different people. And by reading about social engineering techniques, and how to counter them?
In my own opinion it all depends on the awareness and experience, because there is nothing like playing on the safe side.
