Having an Abundance Mindset

What is the difference between having an abundance mindset and having a scarcity mindset?

A scarcity mindset is a fixed mindset. It is focused on lack and a belief that the supply is limited. An abundance mindset is a growth mindset. It allows for possibilities, growth and understands we live in a limitless universe.

Many people have a scarcity mindset because that’s what they’ve been taught. The good news is you can create an abundance mindset and enjoy more of what you want in life.

Here are some steps to move from thinking scarcity to thinking abundance:

1.Move your body to release stress, worry, fear.

If you’re stuck in feeling a lot of stress, worry or fear, physical movement is one great way to release it. Do whatever activity you enjoy. Even a walk outside can help release the stress. When you release the worry and fear of not having enough or being enough, you open up to accessing ideas and inspiration.

2. Stop comparing yourself to others.

This is your life and you are unique. Abundance and success come in many forms and are achieved in many ways. We don’t all start out in the same place and have different skills and talents. You need to focus on you and follow your own path.
The only exception to this is if you feel inspired by someone. The thing to pay attention to is how you feel. If you feel bad when you compare yourself to others, stop! If you feel inspired, ride that wave of good feeling.

3. Make a list of what you already have.

You may be surprised at how much you’ve already created in your life. Categories to look at may include:
* Your home
* Access to good, healthy food
* Clean air
* Clean water
* A job that pays the bills (maybe you have enjoyable, meaningful work as well!)
* Great friends
* A loving partner and/or family
* Your health (or your eyesight, your hearing, etc.)
* Hobbies you love

The purpose of making this list:

Once you realize what you’ve already created, (and you did create it) you can open to a feeling of gratitude. Gratitude and an abundance mindset go hand in hand. You are rich in many ways. You can be rich in friends, love, health and interests. Realizing this changes your mindset and puts you in alignment with more abundance in many more ways.

4. Change your story.

When you are in a scarcity mindset, you’re stuck in the same old story of lack. You can use affirmations to break into that internal dialogue and tell a new story of abundance. Changing your focus actually re-trains your brain. You can develop new neural pathways that allow more positive default thoughts.

Here are some examples:

* I always have enough
* I have what I need when I need it.
* I am enough.
* I deserve to have the things I desire.
* Money comes easily to me.
* I attract wealth and all good things to me.
* I attract work that I enjoy and pays me well.

If you find you still have a voice in your head saying, “No you don’t,” then add “I’ve decided” or “I choose” to the beginning of the affirmation.

Examples:

I’ve decided money comes easily to me.
I choose to attract wealth and all good things to me.

Your subconscious can’t argue with a decision or a choice.

5. Ask for help from your guides.

You have more help than you might think from your spirit guides and your own higher self. Sit quietly in meditation and ask for inspired ideas from these higher sources. Then, if you notice and urge to do something, even if you don’t know how it could lead to anything, do it. You may not “get” anything while meditating, but later an idea could occur to you. It just might put you in the right place at the right time!
