The publicity about HCG and weight loss is running rampant. Does this hormone, known formally as Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, work? This particular weight loss program requires a very minimal intake of calories, 500 to be exact. So based on well known information, it would only make sense that you could lose weight on a diet with so very few calories, so why bother with the HCG. It is also well known that a diet with so few calories cannot possibly be healthy. So why would someone do this unless they are desperate to ruin their health. So what’s the real story with HCG and weight loss? Based on research by A.T.W. Simeons, M.D., when you have the HCG in your system, your body will open up the stored fat and burn it for fuel. Normally, when a person loses weight, approximately 50% of the weight lost is muscle and the other 50% is fat. Now that you have so much less muscle, you are bound to gain back any weight lost because now you won’t burn as many calories. However, with HCG, it is virtually all fat you are losing when you take the homeopathic supplement or drops. You body literally lives off the “fat of the land.” When eating so few calories, you would typically feel lethargic, weak, headachy and ravenously hungry because your body is not getting the fuel it requires to function optimally. Add in the HCG, your body now has the ability to use stored fat for energy, so you don’t get any hungrier than usual, you don’t get lethargic or weak. You are in essence, forcing your body to burn fat for fuel instead of food. Now I realize that I just shared a bunch of theory with you. But will it work for you? My belief it that it can work for you, if you follow the protocol. Now, just the mental aspect of eating so few calories can be daunting. Let me share my story. I had been trying to get rid of some weight that just kept leaping onto my body. I could look at food and gain a pound or two. Nothing that had worked in the past for losing weight was working for me. Although I must admit, my weight had always been an issue for me. I had just passed menopause and figured that had something to do with this. I was obese whether I wanted to admit it or not. Could this HCG stuff be a fad and really mess with my body. It is certainly something to be skeptical about as it sounds too good to be true. I certainly felt that way until I did my research. Once I thoroughly read everything on it, I decided to take the plunge and started to take the homeopathic HCG Let me share with you my results. Was I hungry? yes, but no more than I would normally be. Was I weak and lethargic? no, I felt absolutely normal. Did I want to cheat? you better believe it but it was not so much my body that was craving forbidden food, it was my mind that was playing dirty tricks on me. My mind game was to tell myself that if I eat according to plan, I could drop another pound the next day, so why bother with cheating when the reward was so immediate. Would I have lost weight if I just went on a 500 calorie diet? probably so, but I would have felt awful, been hungry constantly and gained all the weight back because after starving myself like that I would want to splurge. Nine weeks later, I was 45 pounds lighter. So back to the original question -- Does this hormone, known formally as Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, work? I do believe it does. However, be sure to do your own research, learn everything you can before you jump onto the HCG and weight loss wagon.
