Instead of taking a pill perhaps it’s time that we took a look at our emotions and what they are doing with our life. Yesterday I had a person who called me and said, “I am frustrated all the time and I need a herb or supplement to control that.” And I said, there are no herbs of supplements that can control our emotions. Emotions are something we have to learn work with. And here are a few good ways to deal with our emotions and feel great.

In this day and age everyone wants a pill for every little thing they have going on in their life. We in the US consume 75% of the world’s pharmaceutical drugs, we are addicted to taking something if it hurts, feels awkward, or uncomfortable. But our emotions are just that, they are feelings that make us feel uncomfortable. And thus instead of taking a pill to get rid of those feeling (and pills don’t get rid of feelings) we need to acknowledge those feeling, and accept those feeling, and then with time they will subside.

And the more feelings we have that we don’t deal with, the more anxiety we build up which leads to stress, more anxiety, feelings of being overwhelmed and more. And stress kills, my father died of a stress heart attack at the age of 57, so it’s important that we learn to deal with our emotions. And here are 8 wonderful ways to heal emotional turmoil.

Acknowledge Your Feelings - In order to have good emotional intelligence we have to acknowledge our feelings. That is the first thing we have to do, just saying, “I am feeling said”, or “I am feeling anxious” or “I am feeling angry” and thus we can start to do something about our emotions.

Accept Your Feelings - Next it’s important to accept our emotions as they are. Emotions are not right, wrong, or anything in between, they are just what they are. But to push our feelings down, and push them away allows them to build up to the point that we become depressed or explode. So it’s important that we accept our emotions.

Give it Time - As the old saying goes “Time Heals Everything” and for the most part that’s exactly right. Go for a walk, go for a bike ride, get out in nature for an hour or two and then see if those feelings are still hanging around. More than likely they won’t be… so it wasn’t important to begin with.

See Everything From a Third Party Perspective - If we have emotions of anger, or fear, or anything else it’s important that we take a look at the situation from a third party situation. That way we are not looking at everything from a biased point of view. Imagine you can step out of yourself and see the whole challenge before you. If it’s something to do with someone else, see the situation in your minds eye. See the other person and you, and also see yourself standing on the sidelines and watch the whole process. And also try to understand the other person’s point of view. Many times we get so worked up about what’s going on, that we are not willing to take the time to look at the other person’s point of view which may be very valid. Once we do this, most of the time our emotions start to subside, and we let go of all those feelings.

Will it Matter 10 Years from Now - Also take a look at the situation from the perspective of the future… will this matter 10 years from now? If yes then it needs to be dealt with, but 99.9% of the time whatever it is will mean nothing later in life. And if it means nothing later, then life is way to short to hold onto it now.

Talk to Yourself About it - Lots of people have a thing about talking with themselves as if talking with themselves was strange. But talking with ourselves is extremely important. Talk it all out, and not holding anything back, allows the mind to be purged of all the emotional baggage. Then the mind can be free to be happy again. Everyone of us innate emotional intelligence deep down inside. All we have to do is connect to that intelligence and talk it all out. Don’t be shy, talk out loud! In fact talking out loud works the best, but do this in a private place by yourself.

Sleep on It - Sleep on it, go to bed, many times our unconscious mind will come up with an answer during the night and the the whole thing will blow over.

Forgive, Forget, Move on - And last but not least, life is way to short to hold onto emotional baggage. Those who hold onto anger and anxiety have a much bigger chance of coming down with disease… so forgive, forget, and move on with life so you can be healthy.

With these 8 steps 99.99% of all emotional challenges can be healed and thus life can be free and full of happiness. This is a much better solution than trying to hold those emotions in, or medicating them with drugs, alcohol, or anything else.

Many Blessings to Everyone
